The Role

The role is to work as a ALN Teaching Assistant within a Secondary School in Barry. The role requirements are to complement the professional work of the ALN department by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups, monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupils’ achievement, progress and development.

Revised Recruitment Group are working with an over-subscribed secondary school in Barry which has recently received an excellent report from Estyn inspection this year. The staff motivate students to enjoy the challenge of learning and to ensure they develop good learning habits that will stay with them for the future.. The ALN department consists of the ALN coordinator and a number of experienced Teaching Assistants who work in different ways to ensure that each child has access to the curriculum.

What you will need to succeed

  • Have a passion for the education of children and working with pupils with learning difficulties. 

  • Have the ability to form effective working relationships with pupils, staff and parents. 

  • You will act as a positive role model for pupils with ALN.

Previous experience in schools is not essential as training will be provided. If you have had previous experience in supporting ALN or have an interest in doing so- please get in touch.
